I often find that doing the "writing for me" inspires even more writing, just by doing the act of writing something. When stuck, or in a stale phase, it's a great way to get the creative juices going, even if it's just a diary entry to one's self. Great post. Best of luck with writing and everything else.

Once you fall out of the habit of writing daily, it seems ever so difficult to get back in. I had to train myself like Pavlov's dog to respond to a particular music CD to write. I listened to it every time I wrote and only when I wrote. After a while, whenever I played it, I couldn't help but write.

You know, I've been like that for a very long while now. Mostly due to excess of stress at work. I come home too tired to be sit before a computer and write anything coherent. I just might try something like what you suggested. Who knows... :)

Thanks so much for the shout out, April! I think that's great advice, too!

The opening of a story is the most fun for me, those are the ideas I get most often. So when I am in a slump, I love to go read over some of my previous hooks, or write a new one.

I took a break in December, and couldn't tell you how many new ideas flooded me -- when I'd been stale for so long!! It's good to take a break!

Cole, I'm so glad you shared it and I think that it's a really wonderful idea. Goodness knows I'd been going strong till all of the health stuff and then the baby arose. It's nice to find what made me want to write again :o)

Hey April! I'm still on 'break' from my ms. And I'm just loving it! =) I can't wait to write... ideas and thoughts and all kinds of things are running through my mind begging to be added to my 'ONLY for me' story. I guess this was something I needed. A break from the pressure to try and get published and to just write for the purpose of writing. I had no idea my 'need for me time' would rub off on you when I told you about it. =) I actually felt kind of guilty when I did... I mean I was stopping my ms! I'm so glad I did tell you and that you found some fun in it too. =)
